Blizzard addressed player feedback and planned to balance changes for the forthcoming Diablo 2 Terror Zones feature in the Diablo 2: Reforged 2.5 Public Test Realm update.

Additionally, the developer provided players with information regarding when they can expect the forthcoming ladder season 2 release schedule. Players who are checking out the newest version of one of the best PC RPGs have been taking on the new feature, which spawns lethal packs of pumped-up enemies in particular regions of the map. This new feature gives players the opportunity to obtain better gear and provides an additional path to reaching the maximum level in Diablo 2 within a season.

In this article, Diablo community manager Adam 'PezRadar' Fletcher describes the first week of testing for patch 2.5 in Diablo 2's public test realm (PTR): Reawakened.

According to his explanation, the potential sites of Terror Zones would be moved about in order to compensate for the areas in which they were ineffective. More information, like the amount of time required to enter Terror Zones and how long they remain active, will be provided.

Fletcher asserts that a number of players complained that the monsters in the Terror Zone weren't as challenging as they could have been. However, he explains that the majority of these players were using the Hammerdin, which is one of the most powerful builds for the Resurrected Paladin class in Diablo 2. Fletcher mentions that as a result of this finding, the team has some ideas and that he anticipates the next changes to "create a bit of a shift in build/class options for players."

Fletcher has stated that "this is being looked into but, for the time being, I would expect this to be a ladder season 2 feature as we are able to make tweaks to online numbers on the fly while single-player has different values for experience and needs to be tuned differently." This pertains to the request to include Terror Zones in the single-player mode of Diablo 2: Resurrected. He continues by stating that there is a "huge desire" for Terror Zones to be included in offline play, but that the development team "wants to get this nailed down for ladder play first and then go into looking at it for offline subsequently."

Since "we are obviously over that schedule and, to be 100% honest, we didn't prepare very well on our end for that date," Fletcher recognizes that the Diablo 2: Resurrected ladder season 2 release date has been a source of concern for gamers. Fletcher expresses regret for the "uncertainty surrounding when the season shift will take place" and explains that the development of Terror Zones is the root cause of the delay in the seasonal transition.

Fletcher has indicated that the current plan is to terminate the 2.5 public test realm and start accepting player contributions for the final version of the game.

This will allow the 2.5 patches to be deployed to all players on the live servers. As soon as it is finished, "a week or two after 2.5 hits," the second season of Diablo 2: Resurrected will start airing. According to what Fletcher has said, more details on the 2.5 update and the timing for the release of the ladder season 2 will be disclosed "as additional dates become available in the next week." The goal is to wrap up the first season at the same time as production on the second season begins.
