Top 10 NEW MMO Games of June 2024
Welcome to our guide of the top 10 new MMO games coming out in June 2024! In this article, we'll give you the details on each game including expected release dates, gameplay details, and our first impressions. So without further ado, here are our picks for the most anticipated new MMOs of June 2024.
#10 – Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is an expanded version of the JRPG Shin Megami Tensei V that originally released on Switch. The new version includes a second story route with over 40 new demons to capture along with quality of life improvements and new locations. As a fan of the Persona spin-offs, I'm excited to dive deeper into the original SMT games with this expanded version coming to all platforms on June 14th.
#9 – Still Wakes the Deep
Developed by The Chinese Room, Still Wakes the Deep is a first-person narrative horror game taking place on an oil rig during a huge storm. Drawing inspiration from movies like The Thing and Annihilation, it seems highly original with atmospheric survival horror gameplay. Traversal will be difficult as you aren't athletic, adding to the tension. Releasing on June 18th for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series, this looks like one of the more intriguing horror titles coming next month.
#8 – #BLUD
With its beautifully animated Ren and Stimpy-esque style, #BLUD stands out as a delightfully visual dungeon crawler about a vampire apocalypse. Gameplay seems to take cues from Diablo and South Park: The Stick of Truth in an arcade-like fashion. As long as it delivers on its promises, it looks like a really fun throwback arriving on June 18th for PC.
#7 – Empires of the Undergrowth
Empires of the Undergrowth puts a unique spin on the RTS genre by having you build and control an ant colony. Releasing in full on June 7th for PC after an early access period, I'm curious to see how the ant perspective translates familiar RTS mechanics. It could prove a clever twist on the formula made iconic by games like Dune 2 and StarCraft.
#6 – Dragon is Dead
Taking clear inspiration from Castlevania, Diablo, and Dead Cells, Dragon is Dead stylishly mixes hack and slash action, roguelike progression, and RPG mechanics. Entering early access on June 7th for PC, it looks to scratch the itch of fans of those genres. With its slick 2.5D visuals, this one has my attention.
#5 – Monster Hunter Stories Remastered
A more traditional JRPG take on the Monster Hunter formula, Stories is getting enhanced for modern platforms on June 14th. With full voice acting and visual upgrades over the 3DS and mobile versions, this remaster makes the game more accessible. As a big MH fan, I'm eager to experience this sidestory in an improved form.
#4 – Destiny 2: The Final Shape
Destiny 2's eighth expansion launches June 5th, continuing the saga with new story missions, enemies, a new class, and episodic content between releases. While not the "final" chapter as the name implies, it's always exciting to see where Bungie takes the ambitious sci-fi universe next. The expansion format has worked well so far.
#3 – Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle
The latest chapter for the long-running Elder Scrolls MMO arrives June 6th. It introduces the mystical Systres Archipelago and a new Daedric threat. The base game and all past expansions are included in the new Gold Coast collection, making it a great jump-in point. TESO continues to deliver rich Elder Scrolls adventures years after launch.
#2 – Killer Clowns from Outer Space: The Game
Taking inspiration from the cult B-movie, this asymmetrical multiplayer horror casts one team as terrifying killer clowns against survivors. Arriving June 4th on consoles and PC, its lovingly silly presentation makes it stand out from the crowd if it can deliver quality co-op scares. Fingers crossed this bizarre premise is executed well.
#1 – Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erd Tree
FromSoftware's massively popular Souls-like takes a step into expanding its lore with DLC on June 21st. Adding new lands, enemies, weapons and story content revolving around the enigmatic Miquella, it has big shoes to fill. For fans of Elden Ring's challenging world, this new adventure looks poised to satisfy our appetite for more.
